to recruit her for his intramural basketball team next year.  You know, to help shoulder some of the point-guard duties.  Kidding!  He plans to graduate in a few years' time, and, like the rest of us, he wants to make a lot of money.  Then, however, Jeffry wants to teach math and coach basketball.  Hey J.L., for real, get Cathie under contract for the team.  Jeffry's office hours are Monday 1:00 - 2:00.
Lauren is a junior from Valencia, California.  She likes oranges  (joke).  She likes Disney Land.  Not a joke.  She is one of the most talented minds in the department, if you ask me.  You won't hear her say this; she's humble and thoughtful.  She does say that she loves numbers and "being amazed by their remarkable properties.  As for physics:  "I'm not a big fan."  Favorite class: Linear algebra.  Favorite professor: the always-popular Shlomo.  Finally, Lauren plans to go to graduate school in the future.  Hilbert Space hours: Wednesday, 1:00 - 2:00.
Nathan Wonder is a freshman from Reno, NV.  In addition to math, he is considering a major in Theatre Arts.  Nathan's favorite professor is Prof. Kleschev.  Nathan was on the Indiana State Mathcounts team in 8th grade.  He is active in the UO Theatre department.  He also wants to get rich quick.  Hey, like I said before, Who doesn't?  Nathan's office hours are on Wednesday, 1 - 2.
Hey, these nice, smart people are happy to help any majors or prospective majors with course content or selection.  Just ask!!

NEW PEERS

by Jeff Williams

Well, it's that time . . . when next year becomes this and this year won't last.  And so, here are some autobiographical snippets from some new math peer advisors.  Cathie's new recruits are Elizabeth Esterberg, Chrissy Jo Servis, Eric Boyd, Jamie Curtis, Jeffry Lamb, Lauren Weiner, and Nathan Wonder.  Here is some info about some of them.
Jamie grew up dancing in Portland, Oregon.  As a 3rd-year senior, her favorite math class taken so far here has been Geometry from Professor Shlomo Libeskind.  Math as her major: "because I love the logic and processes in Math?  I like getting right answers."  Working on a minor in physics, Jamie is tickled by the presence of math in every day occurrences… "from vibrations to quantum mechanics."  Jamie wants to be a middle and high school math teacher, and so she's planning on earning a master's degree in education after graduating.  Hilbert Space hours: Thursday, 3:30 - 4:30.
Jeffry is a basketball fan also from the city of roses.  He's now a freshman with a double major in math and physics.  He has liked Professor A. Kleschev in Honors Calculus this year.  Not surprisingly, he enjoys applying math to physics models and problems.  He finds Cathie very energetic, and wants
