Dyer, a topologist, has written extensively on the homotopy theory of spaces with non-trivial action by the fundamental group. Currently, he is doing work on combinatorial group theory. The author of over 30 papers in topology, Dyer has directed several Ph.D. theses and has held visiting appointments at the Institute for Advanced Study as well in Germany, Switzerland, Wales and Canada.
