Math 111-College Algebra



Text: Contemporary Precalculus: A Graphing Approach by Hungerford, Second Edition.  We will cover chapters 1 - 5.
 

Homework:  Homework will be assigned weekly and is due by 5 p.m. on Friday (slide it under my office door if you don't see me). Late homework will not be accepted. Each homework assignment is worth 15 points, but your lowest two homework scores will be dropped.

Quizzes;We will have a quiz every Friday we don't have an exam. Quizzes are worth 25 points each. Your lowest quiz score will be dropped. There will be no makeup quizzes.

Midterms: There will be two midterm exams:

Each midterm is worth 100 points.  A make up exam will be given only if I am informed before the scheduled test and then only for a substantial reason.
 

Final Exam: The final exam will be Monday, March 13 at 5:45 p.m., location to be announced. This is a group final for all the 111 classes. The final is worth 200 points.

 

Grading: The number of points possible is:

Homework 120 points
Quizzes175 points
Midterms 200 points
Final Exam 200 points
Total 695 points

Grades will be assigned more or less on the 10% scale (i.e., 625-695=A, etc.).

Calculators:You are required to have a graphing calculator for this class.

Important Dates::
